Research, Survey, Studies

IEDUP has organized about 40 workshops and seminars on entrepreneurship and related themes in last three years. These activities were sponsored by Department of Industries, Govt. Of U.P., State Urban Development Authority, GoUP, Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Development Commissioner (MSME), Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Govt. of India, NSIC, SIDBI, Commercial Banks (Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Banks), NIESBUD. Altogether, about 3000 participants including Govt. officials, bankers, academicians, potential and existing entrepreneurs, artisans, NGOs, students, participated in these workshops and seminars.

Study Title : Study of Cooperatives for Integrated Cooperative Development Project./Preparation of Detail Project Report
Sponsored by : National Cooperative Development Corporation, New Delhi.
Time line : April, 2011 – December, 2011
Objectives :
  • To generate the Baseline data for the project in the selected district and targeted sectors  i.e. Agriculture sector with focus on  Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS), Block Unions, District Cooperative Federation, Primary Marketing Societies (PAMS), Allied sector (Horticulture, Handloom, Fisheries etc.), Rural and Industrial sector, and Cooperative Banking sector.
  • To prepare detailed profile of the District/Blocks covering demographic, sociological, economic, financial, infrastructural & cooperative structure of the selected areas;
  • To study the linkages of ongoing developmental activities of the proposed sub-projects especially in the cooperative sector;
  • To study the existing organizational structure, role, functions, strengths & weaknesses of various cooperatives and suggest improvements.
  • To develop a four year plan for different sectors with special reference to sustaining the growth and development of sectors mentioned above.

  • Assessment of status of Women SHGs in terms  of their internal processes and   management system.
  • Identification of opportunities available for short as well as long term intervention   for micro-enterprises.

Study Title : A Study on PMRY in Uttar Pradesh: Market linked Potential Projects
Sponsored by : Directorate of Industries, U.P., Kanpur
Time line : 1999 - 2000
Objectives :
  • To study the districts with perspective of financial resources, availability of technical back up, potential for projects, explore the market potential of different projects.

Methodology : Four different questionnaires were administered to those involved in the PMRY scheme. Policies and plans for the promotion of micro-enterprises were also studied in depth.

Study Title : Study on Rural Non farm sector in  Mirzapur Districts.

  • Identification, mapping and profiling of Rural non-form sector and a review of policy framework;

Study Title : A study of Small Entrepreneurs in Informal Small Sector (Dispersal Diagnosis and Institutional Support)

Objectives :
  • To determine the major causes that have led to the units not registering themselves with the DICs.
  • To study the factors which have helped the unorganized small scale Industries   to  operate  effectively without the support of the DIC.
  • To identify the spread effects of such units over a period of time in a particular area or sector.
  • To study the supportive measures available to the informal sector by the govt. agencies.
  • To examine the problems faced by the unorganised sector.
Coverage : A sample size of 152 in Brass industries, Moradabad, Lock industries, Aligarh and Carpet, Durries, Pottery industries, Mirzapur.
